OpenRouter Usage

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

OpenRouter Usage is built so that we never see your data. The app talks to OpenRouter directly from your iPhone. There is no server of ours in between, and nothing is sent to us.

Your OpenRouter key

To read your credits and usage, the app needs an OpenRouter Management API key, which you paste in yourself. The key is stored in your iPhone's Keychain and marked for this device only, so it is not synced to iCloud Keychain and is not restored onto a different device from a backup. It is never written to ordinary app storage or to logs, and the Home Screen widget cannot read it.

The key is sent only to OpenRouter (openrouter.ai), over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The app uses it only to read credit and usage information; it never creates, changes, or deletes keys on your account.

What the app keeps on your iPhone

From OpenRouter, the app reads your total credits and usage, your daily spend, and your spend by model. It turns these into a small summary — remaining credit, today's and the past seven days' spend, and your top models — and keeps that summary on your iPhone, so it can show your latest figures offline and share them with its own widget. The widget sees only this summary.

Your settings, such as the low-balance threshold and refresh cadence, are stored on your iPhone too. If Background App Refresh is on, iOS may let the app update the summary in the background; those requests go to OpenRouter in exactly the same way.

Information we collect

None. OpenRouter Usage has no account and no sign-up, and it does not send your key, your usage, or anything else to us. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across apps or websites.

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iOS settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymised crash and performance reports. These reports do not include your key or your usage figures.

OpenRouter

Every request the app makes goes to OpenRouter, just as if you called its API yourself. OpenRouter handles those requests — including your key and your device's IP address — under its own privacy policy and terms. OpenRouter Usage is an independent app and is not affiliated with OpenRouter, Inc.

Clipboard

The Paste button on the key screen reads your clipboard only when you tap it, to fill in the key field. iOS may ask for your permission first.

Removing your data

In the app, Settings → Disconnect Key removes your key from the Keychain and deletes the saved summary; Clear cached data deletes only the summary. Deleting the app removes the summary and your settings.

iOS can keep Keychain items after an app is deleted, so disconnect first if you want the key gone from this iPhone. You can also revoke the key on OpenRouter at any time, which stops it working everywhere.

Children

OpenRouter Usage is a tool for developers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app.
