What you need

An OpenRouter account and a Management API key. The regular API keys you use to call models cannot read credits and usage, so the app asks for a Management key. Create one on OpenRouter under Settings → Management Keys, then paste it into the app.

Just looking? Tap Try Demo on the first screen to see every screen with sample figures — no key needed.

If your key isn’t accepted

  1. Check the key type. It must be a Management API key, not a regular API key.
  2. Check the key is active. Make sure it hasn’t been deleted or disabled on OpenRouter.
  3. Check the whole key was pasted. Copy it again from OpenRouter so no characters are missing.

A key that doesn’t work never replaces one that does: your saved key and figures stay as they were.

Why “today” doesn’t match my clock

OpenRouter counts usage by UTC day, and so does the app, so its Today and 7 Days match OpenRouter’s own billing. A new UTC day starts at 5 pm Pacific time (4 pm in winter). Clock times in the app, such as when figures were last updated, use your iPhone’s time zone.

Widgets

To add one, touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget, search for OpenRouter Usage, and choose Small or Medium.

Widgets show the latest figures the app has fetched, and when. iOS decides when widgets update, so they are not live: Refresh cadence in Settings is a request, not a guarantee. Opening the app refreshes straight away.

Update needed means the figures are more than an hour old. After midnight UTC, a widget shows a dash instead of today’s spend until the app fetches the new day, rather than passing off yesterday’s number as today’s.

Removing your key

Open OpenRouter Usage → Settings → Disconnect Key

This removes your key from the Keychain and clears saved figures and widgets. Do this before deleting the app, because iOS can keep Keychain items after an app is removed. To stop the key working everywhere, also delete it on OpenRouter.

Purchase and refunds

OpenRouter Usage is a one-time purchase, with no in-app purchases and no subscription. On a new iPhone, download it again from the App Store with the same Apple Account — there is no second charge.

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

The app does not sell OpenRouter credits. For questions about credits, billing, or your OpenRouter account, contact OpenRouter.

OpenRouter Usage is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenRouter, Inc. See the Privacy Policy for how your key and usage are handled.
